DISADVANTAGES OF FREE WILL
God does not impose any decision on anyone. In life, you are allowed opportunities to make decisions. God allows everyone to make their choices, He doesn’t force you to take steps or make choices. THIS IS CALLED FREE WILL.
Free will is a good thing. In fact, I perceive God thought it better because HUMANS BEINGS, BEING WHO THEY ARE, WILL PUSH BLAME ON GOD IF GOD WAS INVOLVED IN THEIR DECISION MAKING. WHEN ANYTHING GOES WRONG, INSTEAD OF THEM TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS, THEY WILL PUSH BLAMES AND EXONERATE THEMSELVES.
Check the Bible in the book of Genesis chapter three, verse twelve, there, you will see a good example of the typical human behavior.
Shortly after God conducted the marriage ceremony between Eve and Adam, they both fumbled and God asked Adam being the head how it happened and why he allowed such to happen, he told God that ‘it was the woman you gave me’. Here, He was indirectly telling God that ‘it was not my fault: it is Eve’s fault and Yours, after all, you brought her to me’. Really, Adam, really?!
I believe from the onset, God knows what is best for us, he chose the best for us, BUT WHAT ADAM DID SHORTLY AFTER CREATION MUST HAVE MADE GOD HANDS-OFF MAN’S DECISIONS, GIVING HIM FREE WILL.
Some of you may say: ‘eeehn, shebi it’s only Adam that talk rubbish is it all of us?’ The truth is that EVERY HUMAN BEING HAS THAT ATTRIBUTE OF PUSHING BLAME ON OTHERS; IT TAKES A CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO LOOK WITHIN, REALIZE AND ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS.
Thanks to Adam’s irresponsibility and lack of maturity, we have to make important and life altering decisions on our own (except the Holy Spirit directs us).
This has made us more prone to making mistakes, committing blunders or even frequent failures.
Have you ever imagined what would have happened if Adam had simply tendered an apology and promised to be a better head (leader) and husband? What would have happened if he had taken the blame for what happened instead of pushing the blame on his wife and indirectly blaming God?
Most importantly, what would have happened if; as the head of the home, he made laid down rules and made sure things were in order before he left the house? What if there are rules and regulations made by Adam guiding his home and penalty for breaking those laws?
If he wasn’t so irresponsible, the probability that Eve will eat that apple would have been very slim. We may choose to argue the facts from now till tomorrow, but the truth is never a palatable thing to accept.
The fact is that the head or leader is responsible for anything that happens wherever he leads. If things go wrong, you have to blame the leader first before any other person. If that’s not the case, why do you think God asked Adam first how things went wrong before asking Eve?
The one wey pain me pass na the one wey Adam go talk gibberish when cause God to no dey suggest for us to make decisions again! IF I HAD MY WAY, I WANT MY OWN DECISIONS SOLELY MADE MY GOD, ESPECIALLY THE LIFE ALTERING ONES. I WANT TO LIVE SEAMLESSLY, EFFORTLESSLY, I WANT TO MOVE FASTER knowing fully well that I can’t crash. Knowing with certainty and at all times that I am heading towards the right direction without doubt. Knowing that the One who makes my decisions has the best thoughts for me and He will NOT lead me astray.
I want my life engineered by the Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent because under His push and shove, I will land where I am supposed to, also end up becoming who He has made me to be without breaking a sweat, and WITHOUT FEELING LIKE I MAY DISAPPOINT HIM IN ANY WAY.
The disadvantages of free will abound, oh yes! They do! But we’ve just not always sat down to think deep enough to notice.
Well, such is life. After all, all that has advantages has disadvantages as well.
