THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE MARRIAGE (Part 2)

Sub Topic: Leave and Cleave

ONE OF THE IMPORTANT QUALITIES OF A GOOD HUSBAND MATERIAL IS THAT HE IS WILLING and READY to LEAVE and CLEAVE (Genesis 2:24).
How do you know a man who is not ready to leave and cleave?
A man who doesn't see anything wrong in staying in his parents’ house after marriage is not going to leave and cleave. ACCORDING TO THE HOLY BOOK'S INJUNCTION; A MAN IS SUPPOSED TO LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND CLEAVE TO HIS Wife (Genesis 2:24). This doesn't mean he should NOT take care of his parents or go to pay them a visit from time to time. It simply means, now, he sits with his wife to deliberate on the important decisions he wants to make; he doesn't run to his parents house because, now he has a helpmeet. Someone who will complete him. Someone who will be there as an anchor, an assistant, a helper.
A MAN WHO CANNOT ‘LEAVE AND CLEAVE’ CAN NEVER BE COMMITTED TO THE PROGRESS OF HIS MARRIAGE. The other partner will just keep doing their best to make the marriage work, but it will yield little or no result. This is because the job of two people cannot be effectively done by one person.
Do you know it is possible to leave and not cleave? The Bible is so complete; that must have been the reason why it is clearly stated that you DON'T JUST ‘LEAVE’, YOU ‘CLEAVE’ AS WELL. When you cleave unto someone, you don't let them go. Cleaving unto someone means you are the one holding them, they are not necessarily the ones holding you: so, it will be difficult to loose them, it will be difficult to let go.

Also note that, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CLEAVE IF YOU DON'T LEAVE. Come to think of it, there has to be a reason why the leaving and cleaving part was directed to the man and not the woman. Food for thought, right? Think on these things. It just occurred to me now that the Bible was that specific in this instruction. IT WAS DIRECTED TO THE MAN, AND THERE IS A REASON FOR IT! I AM SO SURE!
Of course, marriage is not a one sided affair, but a man that does not leave and cleave can never help build a happy home.
