LIFE IS A SCHOOL

Laju Iren gave a quote which according to her is the most impactful quote she has ever heard. It says "E better make you reach where you dey go 9 o'clock, than make you reach hospital 8 o'clock because you dey rush".


That is deep. And it was from a bus conductor. 

Hmmn, truly, wisdom has no status! 


Life's lesson can be gotten from anyone, anywhere and anything.


All you need to do is open your mind at all times. Be ready to learn and it will be easy for you to see people, things, or circumstances to derive life lessons from.


Don't look down on anyone. They may be the teacher that will teach you a particular course you need to pass a test of life. 


I have said it before, that the person who taught me how to sweep was a teenage boy (about the same age with me at the time). 


He saw how I swept. He laughed at me, then, told me how to do it right. 


I didn't like that he made fun of me but I listened. 


My strategy was that, I ignored the laugh, and learnt the lesson. Now, I am better for it. 


One younger than you can guide you, advice you or even teach you. But the question is, will you be willing to learn and put your pride and age aside? 


One lesser in status than you can bless you with a word/sentence in season.

They could be there for you when the supposedly 'most important' people are no where to be found. 


So, don't be too high and mighty, thinking some caliber of people cannot be a blessing to you. 

This is one of the biggest errors under the sun. 


Be open-minded and you will not miss out on the lessons life wants to teach you. 

The trees, the animals, the rock, snow, heat and even the rain can teach you a lesson or two. 


If the Bible can say "learn from the ants", imagine how much more we can learn from fellow human beings. 


Phew! From bus conductor to ants; do you see life's hidden lessons? 


Be open-minded. 

Be teachable. 


Be humble enough to learn, be wise enough to grow because the world is your classroom. 


So, when we say 'WE LEARN EVERYDAY', it is not because we are students in the four walls of a classroom. But BECAUSE LIFE IS A SCHOOL AND EVERY CREATION IN IT ARE TEACHERS.

Like, seriously, it baffles me. In fact, it amazes me. Maybe because I do not see admitting my fault as a big deal. I like to admit when I am wrong and apologize when need be. That is why it amazes me when people will rather lose years of meaningful relationship and friendship than say the simple words 'I am sorry'.  It is worthy of note though, that admitting your wrong and saying you are sorry to the offended party doesn't stop there. It goes beyond just saying it, you have to actually mean it when you say it. Some people say they are sorry just because they want that episode to pass. Then, they go and commit the same blunder again or even worse the next time. That is not good at all. I use the phrase 'not good' for lack of a stronger one.  See, saying sorry for your wrong doing (when you are sincere) does not reduce your person, worth or importance in any way. CARELESS WORDS

  ********************* There is a fact we need to always take cognisance of: WORDS are POWERFUL! WORDS CAN EITHER MAKE OR BREAK A PERSON OR A RELATIONSHIP. Words can move a person to tears or propel laughter. Someone once said, “Words are sometimes more destructive than nuclear bomb”. Well, it's true, so you need to be careful how you speak to people or address a person. Some hurtful words can make the recipient feel so bad, feel mentally battered or even begin to have suicidal thoughts. A thought that just came to my mind concerning the effect of words is this: Comedians make people laugh, what do they use? WORDS! The suicide bombers are manipulated to carry out their dastardly act through what? WORDS! They are usually not forced to become suicide bombers, all their manipulators use are WORDS. YOU SEE THE POWER OF WORDS? God made the world through words. That means IF THE RIGHT WORDS CAN CREATE, THE WRONG WORDS CAN ALSO DESTROY WHAT HAS BEEN CREATED. Be mindful of what you say....

CELEBRATING IMPACT:- MR EMMANUEL

Mr. Emmanuel was one of my favourite teachers in secondary school. He was our Christian Religious Studies (CRS) teacher. HE WAS A VERY GOOD TEACHER. That subject he taught; CRS is a subject that most students usually find boring and uninteresting . But I can assure you that CRS is not boring, only the teacher teaching it can make it appear to be so. THE WAY AND MANNER A TEACHER TEACHES A SUBJECT CAN DETERMINE WHETHER STUDENTS WILL LIKE IT OR NOT. Also, have you noticed that if a student dislikes a teacher, it affects the student's attention span on that subject and by extension affects their performance in that subject? That takes me back to Mr. Emmanuel. There was never a dull moment in this man's classes despite the fact that he teaches one of the subjects students term 'boring'. Muslims or Islamic students who saw how he explained the topics in Christian Religious Studies and gesticulates always snuck into his classes so as not to be left out of the fun that is usua...
