GIVING BIRTH TO, OR NURTURING CHILDREN IN DIASPORA
GIVING BIRTH TO, OR NURTURING CHILDREN IN DIASPORA (OUTSIDE YOUR COUNTRY) IS NOT AN EXCUSE NOT TO TEACH THEM YOUR LANGUAGE OR CULTURE!
Even if they are Britons, Americans, Canadians by birth, it does not change the fact that they are still citizens of your mother/father land by blood.
I respect this particular 'T' family (name withheld) and I will like to use them as a case study.
This family in question is a Yoruba family and they gave birth to and trained their children abroad.
Nevertheless, I was impressed to see that the children could speak the Yoruba language and they know the Yoruba culture despite been born and brought up abroad. When I saw them here in Nigeria, they kneel or prostrate to greet their elders according to the Yoruba tradition.
I believe a whole lot of parents in diaspora should take a cue from them! LEARN FROM THE 'T' FAMILY!
Many people are being sold off in their own father/mother land because they were not taught the culture or language.
Please don't treat this matter with kid's gloves.
Inform your loved ones in diaspora or share this post for them to see.
Someone who even tried to abuse the son of the 'T' family with the Yoruba language almost fainted when he heard him speak back to him (abuser) in Yoruba 😂😂🤣🤣
... And I was there in my corner enjoying the scene 😉. It was interesting, adventurous and beautiful to watch.
And for me, that is golden!

FOR many African parents, raising their children abroad is a very daunting and challenging task. The reasons are many, including the culture of the society, which gives enormous powers to the child. Torn between two cultures, African parents are therefore in a dilemma...my view
